To celebrate the 63rd Anniversary this year, the Homestead Rodeo will again have several “Rodeo Days” events during the week prior to rodeo weekend, details are still being worked out at the moment. We’re planning to continue the ‘Family Night’ & ‘Little Britches Cowboy & Cowgirl Contest” at the Harris Field Pavilion presented by Homestead Jackpot Rodeo and the mechanical bull ‘Buck-off’ at the arena. We’ll update the website on the “Rodeo Days” events once they are confirmed.
The actual Rodeo begins at 8 p.m. on Friday night January 27th with “Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night.” The toughest cowboys, cowgirls, specialty acts, volunteers and attendees will be wearing pink to raise awareness for breast cancer research. We are dedicating Friday’s “Pink” performance to the Local Chapter of the Susan B. Komen Foundation.
On Saturday morning the hometown tradition continues as the free Rodeo Parade steps off in downtown Homestead at 11 a.m., featuring the 2012 rodeo queen, floats, marching bands, horse units, clowns and a variety of vehicles. (Click here for parade registration information.)
